Tune Up Time

I like to ride, if the weather's nice. No you didn't see me out there in the snow. That wasn't me. If I'm not riding, I might be working on a new project bike. I've got a few. I like my bikes to work as well as possible. Wobbly wheels, squeaky brakes, shifters that don't operate- not just annoying. Cycling doesn't need to be expensive, and I don't care what you ride, your bike should work right. I don't sell bikes, just wrench on them. I'm a small home based mechanic, you'd have called me a shade tree mechanic back in the day.

If it can be repaired, I can do it.

Spring tune up $20 Here's what you get:

- Inspection of every moving part, and adjustment where needed; Wheels, brakes, derailleurs, headset, bottom bracket (where the pedals spin) pedals, tires, cables. No parts are included. Minor wheel truing (remove the wobbles). Clean and lube the drive components- front and back gears, and the chain. Check and tighten any miscellaneous bolts & nuts. Inflate tires to proper pressure.

Flats are extra- $8 for a patch or $20 max for a new tube (recommended).

All repairs are by appointment only. Shoot me an email to get started.

March was better

March was better riding weather than April, go figure.  Silver bike to the right is my latest finished project, a 1985 Raleigh Mountain Tour, restored to nearly new.  I had to replace the derailleurs and shifters, I did find period and model correct parts online.  Saddle was not original, and was trashed too.  I replaced it with a period reproduction seat and bag, made to look like a Brooks leather seat, which I choose not to afford.  Rebuilt the bushings on the brake levers, new bearings in the wheels and headset, and an upgrade to the bottom bracket.  Pedals and crank came off a donor bike, same model couple years newer.  that's the original finish, just cleaned up and clear coated.  All the decals were trashed, but the headbadge is intact.  26 inch wheels and a 23.5 inch frame- I like big bikes, I cannot lie.
